It is one of the oldest lighthouses of the Far Eastern seas and was founded in 1876. The lighthouse is located on the Tokarev cat, which departs from the Cape Tokarevsky located on the Shkot peninsula better known as Egersheld. The Tokarev cat, on which the lighthouse is located, has a length of 750 meters (820.21 yards) and is a narrow stony spit, created artificially. Previously, the Tokarev Lighthouse was connected with Cape Egersheld by a wooden bridge, from which only sticking pieces of rusty pipes have been left. The main goal of the construction of the Tokarev Lighthouse was to ensure the safety of navigation in the Eastern Bosphorus, the width of which between the cat and a nameless cape on the Russky Island is only about 650 meters (710.85 yards). Already in the 18th century, there were thoughts about the need to fence the shallow-water cat from floating vessels going to the port of Vladivostok. The lighthouse, founded in 1876 and erected on an artificial embankment in 1886, was wooden and consisted of a non-luminous tower, which stood until 1910. And in 1910, there was erected a round stone tower with a height of 11.9 meters (13.01 yards), which is the contemporary Tokarev Lighthouse. Over the century, the filling of the tower has changed several times, but the look of the tower has remained unchanged.
