the word of the shepherd
We have once again awaited the long-awaited joyful feast of the Nativity of Christ the Saviour. What should we wish for from the Lord? What gifts should we ask of the Merciful God?
Indeed, when Christ the Saviour was born, the Magi came to worship Him and brought gifts to the newborn Saviour; but we, sinners, not only do we bring Him nothing, but we still ask Him for gracious gifts. We ask that He, the Merciful Lord, reward us not with material blessings, but with spiritual blessings, that He rekindle in us faith, bright hope, and ardent love. If we possess these virtues, we will be happy, we will be useful to ourselves and to others.
May the newborn Saviour bless us all and multiply the spiritual gifts in our hearts. Anthony, Metropolitan of Surozh
