Dear in the Lord R. G.! I would make some adjustments to your current religious thinking: the source of all troubles and evils should be sought not externally, not around you, but within yourself. If you remain stuck in your current understanding, then, believe me, you will not live to see a truly Christian understanding of life and a Christian worldview. The enemy gains the freedom to influence us only through our own sins and falls, and not because one of our foes desires it. If you, dear R.G., lived in God, understood sin and repentance, then, by constantly living mindfully and cleansing yourself of all sinful filth, you would be inaccessible to the enemy. But since this is not the case, we must endure the enemy's violence. Glory to God that at least now there is a desire to understand spiritual matters. So, it remains for me to wish you to begin studying the science of spiritual life as consistently, patiently, and prudently as you once mastered the wisdom of secular science. Read one chapter of the Holy Gospel daily and two chapters of the Apostolic Epistles, beginning with the Acts, and ask the Lord for knowledge of the Truth.
May God grant you wisdom!Letters of Archimandrite John Krestiankin |
